Grasslands Loop

Trail Name: Grasslands Loop
Distance: 1.1 kms
Time: 20 mins
Difficulty: Easiest
Cell Service: Yes
Trail: Flat, packed gravel and accessible for all
Highlight: A perfect after work loop that is quick and easy that offers some magnificent views of Kamloops!

To get there: From downtown, take Columbia Street heading West.  A few hundred meters after the steep section separating downtown from lower Sahali, keep in the left lane and prepare to turn left onto Summit Dr.  (If you’re taking the highway from downtown, take exit 370 to Summit Drive and then turn left onto Summit.)  Continue up Summit Drive until turning left onto Whiteshield Cres. If you pass the Sahali Fellowship Church and Daycare, you’ve gone too far!  The parking area for this entrance is immediately on your left when you turn onto Whiteshield. Or get directions from Google here.

From the parking area, enter the gate at the front and follow the large wide trail labeled Grasslands Trail. Continue down this trail until you see a large fork to the left and some signage commemorating the improved #access4all trail. Follow the Grasslands Loop trail around to the left as it loops around and overlooks the highway. Here are the best views for sure! Continue following the trail as it loops around and joins the main Grasslands Trail again.

This is a super short trail that is perfect for after work! This trail was recently renovated as part of the City of Kamloops #access4all campaign with support from the Rick Hansen Foundation. The path is already well used by adults and children of all ages, including strollers, wheelchairs, and bikes. Peterson Creek is an off-leash dog park, so you can definitely bring your furry friends! Make sure to pack a camera as well as the views are spectacular!
